My entire mediafire account has been wiped because of DCMA complaints, even recordings of local bands I had their permission. This blog is dead, nothing left to see here...

Update

Id completely forgotten about this blog. I stopped with the bootlegs a long time ago because it was taking so much time I didnt have.
Today Ive been receiving DCMA complaints via mediafire and so far three loads of bands sets have been removed from my account, so if there are any dead links, this is why. Download these while you still can to keep enjoying shows you've been to in the past for years to come

Thrash and Burn - O2 Academy, Birmingham, UK 30 April 2010

Had to use headphones as a microphone again, but doesnt sound to bad

Man Must Die seemed to have pulled out of the tour...

Despised Icon - Academy 1, Manchester, UK 26 April 2010

Despised Icon's last ever UK tour. Broke another sec of mics so had to use a cheapo pair of headphones as microphones. The recordings don't sound too bad considering it was recorded using headphones, but kinda hissy

Hammerfest II, Pointins, Prestatyn, UK 12-13 March 2010

Such a fun festival! Due to various recorder problems, a friend losing a microphone, and my backup mics just generally being an ass, only Five Finger Death Punch and Akercocke have been recorded. I *might* be able to salvage the odd track of Suicidal Tendancies if Im lucky

Machine Head - Hatebreed Live at the O2 Academy, Birmingham, UK 21st Feb 2010

Recorded using a Sony MZ-RH910 minidisc player/recorder and the Sony ECM-DS70P microphone using HiSp Mode (256kb/sec). Man Must Die only has one track as the venue puts the bands on before getting everyone in... I only got in on time to see the last track. Machine Head generally doesn't sound great because at the start I had the levels a bit too high, then I got bored of them and wandered around the venue, finally just sitting on a staircase, so the sound changes throughout the recording

Man Must Die - Only one track unfortunately. Stupid venues...

Fear Factory - Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton, UK 17 Feb 2010

Recorded using a Sony MZ-NH700 minidisc player/recorder and the Sony ECM-DS70P microphone using HiSp Mode (256kb/sec). I must have knocked the mic jack loose during Fear Factory as the middle of their set is ruined by crackles and just general cutouts. Ive uploaded Fear Factorys set in two chunks, the good songs, and the ruined (yet still listenable i guess) songs, so if you dont want to hear the bad ones, you wont waste time downloading them

Fear Factory. Loose mic jack messed up some songs so split into two archives

Good Tracks
Mechanise, Shock, Resurrection, Final Exit, Demanufacture, Self Bias Resistor, Zero Signal, H-K (Hunter Killer) and Replica

Alestorm - Central Station, Wrexham, UK 11-12-2009

Recorded using a Sony MZ-NH700 minidisc player/recorder and the Sony ECM-DS70P microphone using HiSp Mode (256kb/sec). The Alestorm recording clips a little as I left the recorder on the levels used for The Rotted. Halfway through Leviathan I took the recorder out of my pocket and gave it to a friend standing further from the stage so I could go in the pit, which changed the sound slightly, and the full glory of Central Station messing up the sound can be heard. One of the cymbals was way too loud and harsh....

As mentioned above, it clips a little and sound changes halfway through Leviathan due to me giving the recorder to someone else to look after

Goldie Lookin' Chain - 29th March 2009 - Lloyds Bar Pub (moved from Buttermarket), Shrewsbury, UK

Forgotten I had this... My first attempt at a gig bootleg. Recorded using my mobile phone, so terrible quality (8kb/sec...), and only about 15mins of the set. Thought I'd upload in case someone is interested....

Rodrigo y Gabriela - O2 Academy Birmingham 24 Nov 2009

Wallis Bird was recorded using the Sony ECM-DS70P mic, and Rodrigo y Gabriela was with my DIY Panasonic WM61A mics, and a Sony MZ-RH910 minidisc. I thought I would test them both to see which sounds best. Rodrigo y Gabriella ended up with lots of hissy noise in the recording. Some of this was from the venue having a hissy sound system but I think overall the levels were too low as I had to compensate for the bass and the recording wasnt loud enough to cover the noise floor. Didnt help that Rodrigo y Gabriela play with such a dynamic range that I couldnt set the levels loud enough for the quiet bits, and quiet enough for the loud bits... Ive added some noise reduction to remove some of the hissing

Set not split into tracks as I dont know the songs too well. Set list posted above instead

Set not split into tracks as Ive never listened to any Wallis Bird stuff

Tribal Jam Halloween Show, The Fox, Oswestry, UK 2009

Recorded using a Sony MZ-NH700 minidisc player/recorder and the Sony ECM-DS70P microphone using HiSp Mode (256kb/sec). Ive noticed this mic adds a noticable amount of noise into the recording. I might have to go back to my bulkier diy mics. Only James Charmans is a full set. I was walking around too much to bother staying and watching all of the other bands

Devildriver - Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton, UK, 23 Oct 2009

Recorded using a Sony MZ-NH700 minidisc player/recorder and the Sony ECM-DS70P microphone using HiSp Mode (256kb/sec)

Devildriver - http://www.mediafire.com/?qewyefxr0zy
Sound is a bit of a mess but that was how it mostly sounded from where I was standing... I also went in the pit a bit so the recorder got bumped around a bit (most noticable during Meet the Wretched)

Finntroll - Central Station/Yales Cafe Bar, Wrexham, UK - 27 September 2009

Recorded using a Sony MZ-NH700 minidisc player/recorder and the Sony ECM-DS70P microphone. I thought Id test recording with a different microphone. It made an overall less bassy recording and meant I didnt have to be carrying around a battery supply for my microphones. Also I got to hide the microphone in my pocket and not have it near my neck so the recordings arent ruined by me singing along - see Europes final track at Bloodstock for an example...

Recordings uploaded in .zip format because Rich is too stupid to unrar a file....

Finntroll - http://www.mediafire.com/?mcvyjkinimj
Clips a little occasionally because I didnt set the recording levels quite right. Also crackles during a few songs from being in the pit....

Battlelore - Spend most of the time outside talking to people so missed them

Hecate Enthroned - http://www.mediafire.com/?zumdxz2gkwm
Ill reupload the mp3's with the name corrected at some point.... (thanks to the singer from the band noticing that)

Arceye - Not uploading
I tried recording using automatic gain control thinking it would work like a limiter and reduce the levels when they got to high but instead it reduced the levels then raised them instantly resulting in a horrible, compressed? recording

Tribal Jam Festival 29 August 2009, The Fox, Oswestry, UK

The recordings were done with a Sony NH700 minidisc recorder, two Panasonic WM61A electret capsules hidden inside a pair of headphones, and a DIY battery supply box for the capsules.

Photos coming soon when I can get hold of people who went to the gig

Arceye - http://www.mediafire.com/?jqngymd2mzw

Impaled Existence - http://www.mediafire.com/?uxmm2myeiko
Way too low tuned and bass heavy... The sound quality of their set was as bad as the recording....

Apollyon - http://www.mediafire.com/?vvgrm0xmezz

Ghost Phase - http://www.mediafire.com/?hyxmzxeodwo
The drummer isnt very liked by the people I was standing by, so the whole recording is pretty much ruined by everyone shouting "Robby Lloyd!" a lot.....

Bloodstock Festival UK 2009

The recordings were done with a Sony NH700 minidisc recorder, two Panasonic WM61A electret capsules hidden inside a pair of headphones, and a DIY battery supply box for the capsules. I had to record on a low bitrate setting to record all the bands I saw over the weekend. The only bands not recorded were Apocalyptica (which recorded but I was in the pit and knocked the recorder and lost it all....) and Turisas (as I wanted to go in the pit, learnt lesson from Apocalyptica)

Arch Enemy - http://www.mediafire.com/?w0btmzdnwnr
Again some track names missing. Ill update this post if I find out what they are

Carcass - http://www.mediafire.com/?mdmufm2vyzk
Sound occasionally changes but thats probably from me being in the pit. The unknown song is apparently Edge of Darkness and This Mortal Coil. I cant be assed reuploading the whole rar just to change one track title

Cradle of Filth - http://www.mediafire.com/?jvwkydzyzmy
Includes the announcement saying the show is over and the crowd reaction. "If they dont get back on stage soon im going to sneak into VIP and piss in Dani Filths mouth" is my personal favourite

Europe - http://www.mediafire.com/?0gbmjlmo44y
The pit for The Final Countdown was rediculous. Kind of an imploding wall of death which turned into a conga line circle pit.... One of the strangest pits Ive been in...

Satyricon - http://www.mediafire.com/?zx00wzydtoy
Only the last 5 tracks, as I was sneaking in my friends parents during the set ready to see Europe

Municipal Waste - http://www.mediafire.com/?2ldgmntydow
In some parts the sound changes because I was either in the pit or crowdsurfing

Testament - Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall UK 25 July 2009

The recording was done with a Sony NH700 minidisc recorder, two Panasonic WM61A electret capsules hidden inside a pair of headphones, and a DIY battery supply box for the capsules. I missed half of the first track of Onslaught as I wasnt ready and I had to leave early during Testament for my train so unfortunately only got half of the set.... The first few minutes of Testament distorts a little as I didnt have the volume set correctly. Seems I need a little more practice getting the right settings...

Testament - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dtmuqedidzt

Onslaught - http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ximmmmmmzmm

I didnt manage to record Mindless Torture or Warbringer

Primal State - The Fox, Oswestry, UK 30 May 2009

(Cheers James for noticing its 2009 not 2006)
Primal State
are a metal band from Oswestry. This is their comeback gig after losing (and then gaining a new) guitarist and ditching their record label.

The first two tracks are missing as I got kicked out of the pub for bringing in my own food. The recording was done with a Sony NH700 minidisc recorder, two Panasonic WM61A electret capsules hidden inside a pair of headphones, and a DIY battery supply box for the capsules. This produced a reasonable recording, but still distorted near the end of the set when the band increased the volume....
